Many air admittance valves are complex and there is a need for a new air admittance valve. Accordingly, there is provided an air admittance valve comprising: a housing having a vent, wherein a first end of the housing is configured to engage a pipe system; a cartridge having an inlet that aligns with the vent, wherein the inlet is connected to a central chamber and an opening of the central chamber has a sealing structure; and a sealing member that is configured to interact with the sealing structure to allow one-way airflow from the central chamber to the pipe system. An internal diameter of the housing at the first end is greater than a maximum external diameter of the cartridge and the internal diameter of the housing at the vent is less than that of the first end, such that the housing is configured to retain the cartridge.
