PEDESTRIAN CROSSING DEVICE AND METHOD
Referring to Drawing 1, a simple low cost signaling device for a pedestrian crossing, which can be positioned in a fixed manner on new or existing columns 1 or other structures 2 at the roadside and in the vicinity of a pedestrian crossing, said device comprising a mounting component 3 for attachment to said columns; a backing plate 4 containing an axle/fulcrum 6 and/or other mounting means, a moveable element 5 mounted thereon implemented as a rotor, pendulum or tube that bears a section of reflective nature 7 and a section of plain, nonreflective nature 10 together with an eccentrically positioned weight, brake or ratchet 8 and partial shroud 9 that can be mounted thereover to partially obscure said moveable element. When activated, incident light is reflected periodically from the device thereby forming a signal alerting drivers to the presence of pedestrians at the crossing.
