DUAL-MEMBRANE AIR-SUPPORTED STRUCTURE WITH REMOVABLE SOAP FOAM INSULATION
An air-supported structure is provided with two nested air-supported membranes thereby creating a spaced-apart cavity there between that may be filled with foam to improve the building's thermal performance. The perimeter of each impermeable membrane is hermetically sealed to the structure's floor and each membrane is preferably shaped such that, when inflated, the two nested structures assume parallel dome-like shapes which form the wall-cavity of the building. The cavity between the two nested membranes provides an insulation gap for the structure. A desirable additional feature is that this gap may be filled with foam bubbles that will increase the insulation value of the gap. The foam bubbles may be generated using soap mixed with water or may be based on any other compound which will form bubbles that will sustain themselves the required period of time. A system is described for both filling and purging the cavity of foam.
