A switchable cylinder lock is a cylinder lock that can be switched on and off with combination code. The cylinder lock is modified to have long driver pins that can be blocked tight by pin blocking rings setting on top of their pin bores and consequently block the keyway. Blocking rings have pin holes and can be turned like the disks in a combination lock. Combination code is needed in order to overlap the pin holes with pin bores and unblock the cylinder lock. The owner needs to use both the key and the combination code to unlock the switchable cylinder lock. A switchable cylinder lock is designed to avoid any code revealing mechanism such as sound, vibration or tightness and be anti-picking to achieve high security.
