The invention discloses a hydraulic tamper, which comprises a vehicle body, and rail-clamping traveling wheels are respectively symmetrically arranged at the fronts and rears of the left side and right side of the bottom of the vehicle body; each rail-clamping traveling wheel comprises an adjusting block, a chassis mounting part, a bottom traveling wheel and a locking handle; the adjusting block is arranged at the middle of the locking handle, and is connected through a screw thread; the chassis mounting part is arranged at the lower part of the locking handle; the bottom traveling wheel is rotatably arranged at the bottom of the chassis mounting part; both sides of the adjusting block are respectively articulated with side connecting arms; the outer end of each side connecting arm is articulated with a side connecting rod; side auxiliary wheels are arranged at the lower ends of the side connecting rods. During operation, the bottom traveling wheel is in contact with the top surface of a rail; the two side auxiliary wheels are respectively arranged at the left side and right side of the rail. The traveling stability of the hydraulic tamper mentioned by the invention on a railway is good.
