The invention relates to an environmentally friendly artificial stone and a production method thereof. Raw materials for producing the environmentally friendly artificial stone comprise 40-60wt% of unsaturated polyester, 0.1-1wt% of a silane coupling agent, 0.1-3wt% of an accelerant, 0.1-3wt% of a curing agent, 0.1-3wt% of an antifoaming agent and 40-50wt% of an inorganic mineral matter. The components adopted in the invention have no smell, so the environmentally friendly artificial stone produced in the invention has the advantages of no pollution, harmlessness to environment and human body, no contraction or deformation in the use process, and no pollution to water or soil after becoming waste.
