The invention provides a thermal insulation block prepared from industrial waste and a preparation method of the thermal insulation block. The thermal insulation block prepared from the industrial waste consists of the following components in parts by weight: 100-150 parts of waste cement paste, 240-350 parts of slag, 100-150 parts of fly ash, 80-100 parts of perlite, 25-40 parts of medium sand and 10-30 parts of macadam, wherein the waste cement paste is a waste liquid from the production of pre-stressed concrete pipe piles during centrifugal molding; the slag is solid residue obtained from coal combustion and is 1-5mm in grain size; the thermal insulation brick further comprises 10-20 parts of excitant, wherein the excitant is prepared by mixing calcium chloride, sodium thiosulfate and calcium formate at the weight ratio of 1: 1.5: 0.8.
