The invention relates to a calcium hexaboride ceramic powder preparation method comprising the following steps: calcium oxide and boron powder are uniformly mixed and dried, and the mixture is added into a high-temperature reaction furnace; a vacuuming treatment is carried out before a heating treatment of the high-temperature reaction furnace; under the protection of vacuum and inert gas, calcium oxide and boron powder are subjected to a high-temperature reaction; calcium hexaboride ceramic powder is separated and purified; and the separated and purified calcium hexaboride ceramic powder is subjected to a ball milling treatment, such that well dispersed calcium hexaboride ceramic powder is obtained. The method provided by the invention is simple and is easy to realize. Preparation cost is low. The prepared calcium hexaboride ceramic powder has the advantages of small particles and uniform dispersion.
