The invention discloses a method for cooling yellow phosphorus furnace slags by air quenching, which comprises the following steps: carrying out primary cooling on high-temperature furnace slags discharged from a phosphorus furnace, controlling the temperature of outlet air at 600-900 DEG C, taking two-stage cooling air cooled two times as cooling air, and carrying out secondary cooling on the cooling slags so as to further cool the cooled slags, wherein materials in a secondary cooling mode are in a semi-molten state, the temperature of the materials is about 800-1100 DEG C, the secondary cooling is implemented in two stages, the temperature of a first-stage cooling air is controlled at 600-900 DEG C, hot air cooled in the same time is conveyed to a boiler to generate steam, the temperature of a second-stage cooling air is controlled at 200-400 DEG C, the temperature of the materials at a secondary cooling outlet is 65-100 DEG C, and the cooled furnace slags are conveyed to downstream places. According to the invention, water resources are saved, the energy consumption and the labor cost are relatively reduced, and the production cost of yellow phosphorus is greatly reduced.
