The invention discloses a coated light-weight aggregate, and a preparation method and application thereof, belonging to the technical field of concrete preparation. The coated light-weight aggregate is prepared from a film forming polymer, a film forming assistant, refractory oxide and water. The concrete prepared from the coated light-weight aggregate does not have the blowout condition under the high-temperature condition of 1200 DEG C for 10 hours, and the residual mechanical strength is 20-30%. The coated light-weight aggregate can be used for basic facility construction for smelting, petroleum extraction, nucleus and other high-temperature operations, and can also be sprayed on a common concrete structure surface as a fireproof layer.
