Method of preparing silica-alumina aerogel from kaolin
The invention relates to an aerogel and particularly relates to a method of preparing a silica-alumina aerogel from kaolin. The method comprises the following steps: mixing kaolin which serves as a raw material with an alkaline liquor, carrying out hydrothermal reaction, filtering, and separating activated kaolin; dissolving the obtained activated kaolin into an acid, heating to carry out reaction, filtering to obtain a kaolin acidification liquor which contains no solid mineral impurities; preserving the heat of the obtained kaolin acidification liquor between room temperature and a temperature of 60 DEG C for 1-4days, washing with water until the kaolin acidification liquor is neutral, and washing with alcohol to obtain a neutral silica-alumina gel; mixing the obtained neutral silica-alumina gel with a modifying agent, preserving heart at the temperature of 60 DEG C for 4-24 hours, washing the modified silica-alumina gel with n-hexane, and drying to obtain the silica-alumina aerogel, wherein the silica-alumina aerogel is the SiO2-Al2O3 aerogel. Only kaolin is used as the raw material to synthesize the SiO2-Al2O3 aerogel, and the accompanying mineral impurities such as mica and quartz are removed after kaolin is activated and acidified. The raw material is low in cost, the product is high in quality, and the requirement for the quality of kaolin is low.
