The invention discloses a bridge gap residue cleaning device and an application method of the device. The device is used for cleaning residues in gaps such as bridge telescopic joints in a bridge (9) and comprises a support plate (8), wherein the support plate (8) is used for stretching across the gaps and is fixedly connected with the lower end of a vertical bracket (81); the upper end of the vertical bracket (81) is fixedly connected with a driving motor (82); the driving motor (82) is in power connection with a driving sleeve (820); the external surface of the driving sleeve (820) is slidably connected with the upper part of an inner hole of the sliding sleeve (7) in a key fit manner.
