Disclosed is a method for controlling a system to remove residues by a bridge joint residue removal device. The system comprises a DSP (digital signal processor) controller, a motor drive circuit and the bridge joint residue removal device. The bridge joint residue removal device is used for removing the residues in a joint (for example a bridge expansion joint) in a bridge and comprises a supporting plate for stretching across the joint, the supporting plate is fixedly connected with the lower end of an upright support, the upper end of the upright support is fixedly connected with a drive motor, the DSP controller is connected with the drive motor in the bridge joint residue removal device through the motor drive circuit so as to control the drive motor to rotate, the drive motor is in power connection with a drive sleeve and used for driving the drive sleeve to rotate, and the outer surface of the drive sleeve is slidably connected with the upper portion of an inner hole of a slide sleeve (7) in a keying fit manner.
