The invention relates to a refractory material and a preparation method thereof and particularly relates to a castable with high temperature resistance and wear resistance and a preparation method thereof. The castable is prepared from the following raw materials: waste aluminum oxide ceramic powder, sintered mullite powder, calcium aluminate cement, a reinforcing agent and a compound additive. The castable with high temperature resistance and wear resistance is mainly prepared from waste aluminum oxide ceramic powder and therefore the prepration cost of the castable is reduced.
