The invention belongs to the technical field of electronic information engineering and traffic safety, and particularly provides a highway guardrail with an ultrasonic ranging device. The highway guardrail comprises ultrasonic ranging heads, a guardrail housing, a micro controller, a loudspeaker, and a wire. The ultrasonic ranging heads are embedded into the middle positions of the upper half of the guardrail housing. The ultrasonic ranging heads and the micro controller are connected by signal lines. The micro controller is installed in the middle position of the lower half of the guardrail housing. The micro controller is connected with the loudspeaker. The loudspeaker is installed on the upper part of the guardrail housing. The wire is installed in a bottom right position of the guardrail housing. The wire is connected with the micro controller. The problem that the existing highway guardrail can only block a vehicle physically when the vehicle collides the guardrail, cannot carry out monitoring actively and cannot give a warning before a vehicle touches the guardrail is solved. By additionally arranging the ultrasonic ranging device, the guardrail has certain active reminding ability, which makes the road traffic safer.
