The invention relates to the technical field of chemical building materials and especially relates to a calcite-imitated external wall brick with a semi-hydrate gypsum base material and a preparation method thereof. In the invention, by means of adjustment and control of addition amount of graphite, on the premise of ensuring the performing of the brick, the quality of an imitation product with a gypsum base material is improved further and a proper proportion range of selection of the use amount of the graphite is also provided. In addition, with combination of proper control and adjustment of technical parameters and raw material additional proportions in the preparation method, especially the control of the temperature and stirring rate, semi-hydrate gypsum is activated during the preparation process, thereby enhancing the activity of the semi-hydrate gypsum. With the addition of the graphite and proper composition and proportion of other raw materials, a slurry material is excellent in the solidification performance, so that the calcite-like external wall brick is high in flexural strength and compressive strength, is enhanced in anti-freeze-thaw performance, is reduced in radiation index in gypsum, is less than 1 in both internal radiation index and external radiation index and is improved in quality.
