The invention discloses a polyester fiber for a road and a preparation method of the polyester fiber. The polyester fiber is characterized by comprising the following steps: performing condensation polymerization and solid-state polymerization on 80-90 percent by weight of a polyester fiber body and 5-15 percent by weight of a fiber resin under 3-5 percent by weight of an anti-aging agent; slicing polyester generated by performing the solid-state polymerization to ensure that melt spinning and stretching are carried out to obtain the polyester resin for the road, wherein the amount of admixture of the polyester fiber for the road added into the asphalt mixture is 0.25-0.3 percent, and the polyester fiber body is formed by esterifying terephthalic acid and gylcol ester based on the mass ratio of 2 to 3. According to the configuration of the polyester fiber body, the fiber resin and the anti-aging agent, the polyester fiber for the road has the advantages that the anti-aging performance, the high-temperature performance and the fatigue performance of the asphalt mixture can be greatly improved, and the service life of the asphalt mixture is prolonged.
