The invention provides a terminal hydroxyl esterified polyether macromonomer and a preparation method thereof. According to the preparation method, in the presence of a catalyst, the terminal hydroxyl of a polyether macromonomer and carboxyl of macromolecular carboxylic acid have an esterification reaction to obtain the terminal hydroxyl esterified polyether macromonomer. In the esterification reaction, a water carrying agent and a polymerization inhibitor are added, thereby accelerating the forward implementation of esterification reaction. The preparation method of the terminal hydroxyl esterified polyether macromonomer comprises the following step of esterifying a mixture of raw materials used for preparing the terminal hydroxyl esterified polyether macromonomer at 80-130DEG C. According to the terminal hydroxyl esterified polyether macromonomer, since macromolecular carboxylic acid is used as a terminating group of the polyether macromonomer, the physical size of the terminal of a side chain can be increased greatly, and then the physical size of the terminal of a side chain of polycarboxylate water reducer mother liquid synthesized by the terminal hydroxyl esterified polyether macromonomer can be further increased greatly, so that the polycarboxylate water reducer mother liquid is hardly inserted into the stratified structure of clay to achieve an anti-mud effect; and therefore, the working performance of concrete is ensured.
