An elastically averaged assembly for closure applications is disclosed in the present invention, including a first component comprising at least one receiving feature. Also included is a second component to be repeatedly mated with the first component, the second component comprising at least one protrusion, the at least one receiving feature configured to fittingly receive the at least one protrusion, wherein the at least one protrusion is configured to be repeatedly removed from the at least one receiving feature. The at least one protrusion is formed of an elastically deformable material configured to elastically deform upon contact with the at least one receiving feature.
