The invention discloses a gate fare evasion detection system and a gate fare evasion detection method in an embodiment. The system comprises a three-dimensional image information acquisition module, a gate state obtaining module, a three-dimensional image information recognizing processing module and a warning module, wherein the three-dimensional image information acquisition module comprises at least two image data acquisition units for acquiring two-dimensional image information containing the same region to be detected from different positions, and is used for obtaining the image information of a human body in the region to be detected; the gate state obtaining module is used for obtaining the state information of the gate; the three-dimensional image information recognizing processing module is used for judging whether the human body conducts a fare evasion behavior by use of the image information of the human body and the state information of the gate; the warning module is used for giving an alarm on the fare evasion behavior of the human body. In this way, the gate fare evasion detection system is capable of detecting the fare evasion of a person without a large number of supervisory personnel; the supervision requirement can be met, and the labor cost can be greatly reduced.
