The invention relates to an A-grade inorganic fireproof foam insulation board produced by tailings and a preparation method of the insulation board. Raw materials include, by weight, 40-60 parts of copper tailings, 30-50 parts of bauxite tailings, 0-15 parts of silica sand, 2-10 parts of industrial sodium carbonate and 0.2-1.5 parts of high-temperature foaming agents. According to a preparation process, the insulation board is produced by 'wet ball-milling, spray granulation and high-temperature foaming'. The copper tailings and the bauxite tailings serve as main raw materials, the insulation board cannot combust at the temperature higher than 750 DEG C, raw material production cost is reduced by 36-45%, the insulation board can fundamentally solve the problems that an insulation board mainly comprising organic components is combustible, poor in fireproof performance and high in cost, pollutes environments and harms human health in the current domestic market, and the existing insulation board is high in water absorption, short in service life and low in performance index and easily falls off. Environmental problems and potential safety accidents caused by tailings stacking are effectively relieved.
