An automatic door operator driven by a linear motor comprises a traction assembly, a control assembly, a door leaf connection assembly, and a tensioner. The traction assembly comprises a traction wire and a wire wheel assembly, wherein the traction wire is wound on the wire wheel assembly; the control assembly comprises a coil stator, a permanent magnet rotor and a controller; the door leaf connection assembly comprises hanging wheel assemblies, an upper steel wire clamp and a lower steel wire clamp, wherein the hanging wheel assemblies are connected with door leaves, and the upper steel wire clamp and the lower steel wire clamp clamp the upper section and the lower section of the traction wire respectively; and the tensioner comprises a tensioning substrate and an adjusting mechanism for adjusting the wire wheel assembly. The automatic door operator is driven by a permanent magnet synchronous linear motor; the door leaves are driven by a pushing force generated through the attraction and repulsion of magnets and coils; during operation, bearing hanging wheels are small in wear and operation resistance; and the automatic door operator is simple in structure, few in fault points, and suitable for actual needs of various occasions.
