The invention discloses a safety slewing monitoring device for an excavating machine. A distance sensing device (2) and an alarm device (3) are arranged at two end corners of a rotary drive part of the excavating machine (1); during working of the machine, the distance sensing device (2) continuously monitors the distance between a foreign object and two end corners of the rotary drive part, and when the distance is smaller than a safety distance, the alarm device gives an alarm message through sound or LED lamp light; the distance sensing device (2) generally adopts an infrared ray sensing device; video devices (4) are simultaneously arranged at two end corners of the rotary driving part, a monitoring device (5) is arranged in a cab and synchronously monitors conditions of the periphery of the corners; a protecting device is arranged, and the distance sensing device (2) and the video devices (4) are placed in the protecting device when not used. The conditions of objects and people on the periphery of the excavating machine can be timely monitored, an alarm is given timely, and possible collision accidents are reduced.
