The present invention relates to a housing interior wall decoration coating material and a preparation method thereof. The coating material contains, by mass, 17-28 parts of calcite powder, 6-14 parts of borax, 5-15 parts of sodium-based bentonite, 16-24 parts of light calcium carbonate, 2-7 parts of antimony oxide, 20-35 parts of calcium-magnesium powder, 14-23 parts of barite, 3-8 parts of dodecyl alcohol ester, 60-80 parts of distilled water, 6-18 parts of a coumatone resin, 2-10 parts of nanometer zinc oxide, 2-10 parts of nanometer alumina, 3-9 parts of nanometer copper ions, 0.5-1.8 parts of benzisothiazolin-one, 0.007-0.013 part of carboxymethyl cellulose, 0.03-0.08 part of azobisisobutyronitrile, and 4-12 parts of titanium dioxide powder. The coating material of the present invention has characteristics of good decoration performance, sterilization, bacterial inhibition, and good air purifying effect.
