The invention discloses a light waterproof glass bead thermal insulation mortar. A layer of molten coumarone-indene resin covers the surface of the glass bead to form a macromolecular resin layer with both strengthening and dewatering characteristics, thereby closing surface defect of the glass bead caused by various reasons, and preventing the glass bead from adsorbing and absorbing the water; therefore, the water absorption is lowered; meanwhile, a layer of modified viscose powder is further covered, and other effective auxiliaries are covered to obviously lower the breakage rate caused by pressing and collision when the glass bead is doped; the excellent performance of the glass bead is improved; and the prepared thermal insulation mortar has the features of being light in mass, waterproof and cracking-resistant, excellent in mechanics performance and high in thermal insulation performance, and various performance indexes of the engineering requirement can be satisfied.
