The invention discloses a general vertical beam for a high-rise residential building wall post formwork. The general vertical beam comprises a body formed by angle steel, wherein a plurality of connecting holes are formed in each of two mutually vertical steel straps of the body; the body is fixed with the formwork through the connecting holes; a plurality of L-shaped steel straps are welded on the body at intervals; each L-shaped steel strap and the corresponding steel strap locating part on the body form a square pipe section; the position of each square pipe section corresponds to a node position on which inner and outer keels are intersected; and reinforcing holes are formed in each of the two mutually vertical steel straps of the L-shaped steel straps. The general vertical beam has the advantages that steel is used instead of wood; the repeated recycled use can be realized; the weight is light; the strength is high; the stress is reasonable; the universality is high; and the vertical beams are connected with multi-layer plates for forming the formwork, so that the consumption of the vertical beam is reduced; and an active reinforcement effect is achieved on the whole formwork system.
