The objective of the present invention is to provide a security gate system capable of alleviating congestion at a security gate. The security gate system is provided with: a detection unit which outputs a first radio wave which forms an authentication area at an entrance of a gate, and with respect to the entrance of the gate, outputs a second radio wave which forms a pre-authentication area on a side that is closer to the front than the authentication area; a main authentication unit which, when identification information is received by way of radio waves from a tag within the authentication area by the detection unit, receives the identification information from the detection unit, and performs authentication processing with respect to the identification information; a pre-authentication unit which, when simplified information, of a lower amount of information than the identification information, is received by way of radio waves from a tag within the pre-authentication area by the detection unit, performs authentication processing with respect to the simplified information; and a notification unit which, on the basis of the result of authentication of the simplified information by the pre-authentication unit, reports allowability of passage through the gate for the tag that has transmitted the simplified information.
