The invention provides a light-weight aluminum oxide bullet-proof ceramic material which is mainly prepared from the following raw materials in parts by mass: 95-99 parts of alpha-Al2O3, 0.5-1.5 parts of kaolin, 0.5-1.0 part of calcined talcum and 3-8 parts of BC whisker or BC grain. A proper amount of nano BC whisker or nano BC grain is added to effectively enhance the hardness and toughness of the aluminum oxide bullet-proof ceramic, and can reduce the specific gravity of the Al2O3 bullet-proof ceramic, thereby achieving the goal of light weight.
