The invention discloses a concrete faced rock-fill dam void deformation monitoring device and an installation method thereof. The monitoring device comprises a cushion layer, a pedestal, a crack meter and a wood cover plate, the cushion layer is horizontally arranged on a rock-fill body, the pedestal is arranged on the cushion layer and is fixed through a fixing anchor rod, the wood cover plate is arranged on the bottom of a concrete face, one end of the crack meter is fixed on the pedestal, the other end of the crack meter penetrates through the wood cover plate and is fixed on the concrete face, and backfill materials are put between the cushion layer and the concrete face. The installation method comprises steps of (1) excavating a mounting groove; (2) paving the cushion layer; (3) installing the pedestal; (4) installing the crack meter; and (5) installing the wood cover plate. The concrete faced rock-fill dam void deformation monitoring device can monitor void deformation between the concrete face and the rock-fill body effectively in real time in order to obtain effective data for safety evaluation and analysis of the rock-fill dam, the concrete faced rock-fill dam void deformation monitoring device is simple to install, and good in accuracy and durability, and the concrete faced rock-fill dam void deformation monitoring device can be widely used for monitoring void deformation between the concrete face of the concrete faced rock-fill dam and the rock-fill body.
