The invention discloses magnesium oxysulfate cement and a preparation method thereof. The magnesium oxysulfate cement comprises, by weight, 20-40 parts of magnesium sulfate solutions, 20-40 parts of magnesium oxide, 5-15 parts of returned materials, 1-6 part of wood powder, 5-20 parts of bamboo powder and 4-14 parts of additives. The magnesium sulfate solutions, the magnesium oxide, the returned materials, the wood powder, the bamboo powder and the additives are added into a stirring machine, and the rotation speed of the stirring machine is adjusted to be 3600 t/min and is slowly reduced to 1440 r/min after stirring is conducted for 15-30 min; 10 ml of mixed materials in the stirring machine are obtained for viscosity testing, the stirring machine stops stirring when time for the 10 ml of mixed materials to pass a capillary viscometer is 88-108 s or to pass an Engler viscometer is 37-55 s, and slurry of the magnesium oxysulfate cement is obtained. When the magnesium oxysulfate cement prepared through the formula and the preparation method is burnt, no harm is caused to human bodies, and the advantage of preventing moisture regain and scumming is achieved; meanwhile, the service life is prolonged, and water resistance is also improved.
