The invention relates to a method for preparing a silicon oxide antireflection coating on an alumina transparent ceramic substrate, which is characterized in that alumina transparent ceramic, ethyl orthosilicate ((C2H5)4SiO4), ethanol (C2H6O), hydrochloric acid (HCl) and deionized water (H2O) are employed as main materials, an alumina transparent ceramic is taken as a substrate, a sol-gel method is employed, and the silicon oxide antireflection coating can be prepared by adjusting parameters of plated film layer number, annealing temperature, and silicon concentration. The novel alumina transparent ceramic plated with the silicon oxide antireflection coating has higher light transmittance and good interface combination, the silicon oxide antireflection coating can be used as a core part-luminescence electric arc tube of a high pressure sodium lamp, and can be widely used for illumination field, so that the energy utilization rate is greatly increased.
