The invention discloses a preparing method of zeolite ceramsite for roof greening. According to the method, riverway bottom mud and zeolite powder serve as main raw materials, quick lime, gypsum, sulpho-aluminous cement, ferrous sulfide and straw ash serve as auxiliary elements, and lithium carbonate, bauxite, fluorite powder, sodium pyrophosphate, potassiam polyoxyethylene laurylether phosphate and nanometer aluminium oxide serve as additives. The preparing method includes the steps of material preparation, mixing, pelleting forming and steam curing. The compression strength of the prepared lightweight unburned ceramsite is larger than 10 Mpa, and the appearance density is lower than 0.7 g/cm<3>.
