The invention relates to the technical field of mineral smelting, and particularly relates to equipment and method for burning limestone. The equipment comprises a first reaction furnace, a second reaction furnace, a dual-layer heat-recovery heating bin and an exhaust fan, wherein the first reaction furnace is communicated with the second reaction furnace by virtue of a pipeline; the second reaction furnace is communicated with the outer bin of the dual-layer heat-recovery heating bin by virtue of a pipeline; the inner bin of the dual-layer heat-recovery heating bin is communicated with the first reaction furnace by virtue of a pipeline; the exhaust fan is arranged on the dual-layer heat-recovery heating bin and is communicated with the inner bin of the dual-layer heat-recovery heating bin; and an airflow outlet communicated with the outer bin is formed outside the dual-layer heat-recovery heating bin. The equipment has the advantages of simple structure, small furnace construction investment, small floor area, great reduction of energy loss, simple operation and environmental pollution prevention, can be used for smelting, casting and lime burning, can be used for reducing heat consumption to a great extent and reducing production cost, and has an excellent application prospect.
