The invention relates to a high strength and light weight silica brick and a production method thereof. The brick adopts silica as a main raw material, the main raw material is divided into silica particles, silica powder, silica coarse powder and silica fine powder according to particle sizes, and the high strength and light weight silica brick concretely comprises the silica particles, the silica powder, the silica coarse powder, the silica fine powder, graphene, a composite mineralizer, a binder, silicon nitride and nanometer silicon carbide. The high strength and light weight silica brick has the advantages of excellent thermal shock resistance, strong slag and alkali metal erosion resistance, excellent washing resistance and heat insulation performance and good high-temperature volume stability; graphene makes internal contact of the silica brick be tight in order to reduce stress caused by expansion in the sintering process, so loosening or cracking of products is prevented; and high strength of graphene guarantees excellent mechanical performances of the silica brick, and improves the acid and alkali resistance of the silica brick.
