The invention provides a dredging ship for water hyacinths. The dredging ship for the water hyacinths is convenient to operate, can automatically work and is high in efficiency. The dredging ship comprises a ship body which is provided with a collecting chamber, wherein the collecting chamber is provided with an inlet through which floating water hyacinths can enter; a water pump is arranged in the collecting chamber; one end of a water hyacinth lifting conveying device extends into the collecting chamber, and a net bag is arranged below the other end of the water hyacinth lifting conveying device; a hook is arranged at the tail part of the ship body. The invention further provides a water hyacinth dredging method which can be automatically performed and is high in efficiency. The method is that the water pump works to enable the water hyacinths to float to one end of the water hyacinth lifting conveying device; the water hyacinth lifting conveying device lifts the water hyacinths and feeds the water hyacinths into the net bag; an opening of the net bag is bundled when the net bag is full of the water hyacinths; then the net bag is positioned on the water and hung to the hook at the tail part of the ship body; the dredging ship for the water hyacinths moves to drive the net bag floating on the water to move; when the ship arrives on shore, the net bag full of the water hyacinths is conveyed ashore.
