The invention relates to a light waterproof heat preservation material for a building external wall and a preparing method of the light waterproof heat preservation material. The light waterproof heat preservation material is prepared from 100-150 parts of modified fly ash, 30-50 parts of flue gas desulfurization gypsum, 20-30 parts of foam glass, 5-8 parts of alkali-activator, 10-15 parts of cement, 6-10 parts of sepiolite fibers, 5-10 parts of hydroxyethyl methyl cellulose, 1-2 parts of acrylic acid, 1-1.5 parts of water repellent agents, 1.5-2.5 parts of water reducing agents, 2-4 parts of polysiloxane and 20-25 parts of foaming agents, and is prepared through the preparing method which comprises the first step of modified fly ash preparation, the second step of gunk preparation, the third step of foaming paste preparation, the fourth step of pouring forming and the fifth step of standing foaming and mold releasing. By means of the scheme, the high-calcium coal ash and the flue gas desulfurization gypsum serve as raw materials, and industrial sold waste materials are recycled under the action of the alkali-activator; thus, the pure inorganic material high in compressive strength and excellent in waterproof heat preservation performance is provided.
