The invention discloses a light thermal insulation ceramic product and a preparation method thereof. The ceramic product comprises the following raw materials in parts by weight: 30-40 parts of kaolin, 25-35 parts of perlite, 20-28 parts of obsidian, 12-18 parts of vermiculite, 12-15 parts of biotite, 8-10 parts of aluminium oxide, 8-15 parts of rare earth oxide, 10-15 parts of anion powder, 15-21 parts of hollow glass beads, 12-18 parts of waste ceramic residues and 3-5 parts of auxiliary, wherein the auxiliary comprises acrylic resin, dibutyl phthalate, stearic acid and sodium humate. The ceramic product prepared with a scientific raw material formula has low coefficient of thermal conductivity and excellent thermal insulation property, can also release anions and is healthier and more environment-friendly.
