The present invention discloses a preparation method of silicon carbide fibers based on alumina sol. The preparation method comprises: mixing alumina particles and deionized water according to a certain ratio to obtain an alumina suspension, adding a proper amount of an acetic acid solution, a leveling agent, a defoamer and a wetting agent, pouring the suspension into a ball mill, carrying out ball milling for a certain time, carrying out heating magnetic stirring to obtain an alumina sol, carrying out dipping pulling coating on the silicon carbide fibers in the alumina sol, and carrying out drying and vacuum sintering to prepare the silicon carbide fibers with the surface containing the alumina coating. According to the present invention, the method has characteristics of simple process and low cost, and is suitable for large-scale industrial production, and the alumina coating has characteristics of uniform dispersion and good stability, and can stably exist on the silicon carbide fibers for a long time.
