The invention discloses a radial gate counterweight adjustment opening/closing device and a gate opening/closing method. The device is composed of a counterweight, a counterweight bottom wheel, a counterweight baffle plate, a windlass, a fixed pulley 1, a fixed pulley 2, a wire rope, a support used as a guide rail, and a bracket. The radial gate counterweight adjustment opening/closing device disclosed by the invention is characterized in that the bracket and the guide rail are arranged in the opposite direction of a gate, and a moveable counterweight is arranged on the guide rail; when the gate needs to be opened, the counterweight is dragged by a small windlass in a way of deviating from the radial gate, the torque generated by the counterweight to the center of a hinge shaft is increased, part of torque generated by self weight of the gate can be balanced, and thus the opening of the radial gate is very labor-saving; and when the gate needs to be closed, the counterweight is dragged back by the small windlass, and the gate is automatically closed under the effect of the self weight. The gate opening and closing processes can achieve the purpose of saving energy sources.
