The invention relates to the field of engineering machinery, in particular to a grab bucket machine used for a height-limited space. The grab bucket machine comprises a chassis, an operation room, a mast, a winch, a lifting oil cylinder, a crown block, a hoist and a grab bucket, wherein the operation room is rotatably mounted on the chassis; one end of the mast is rotatably mounted on the operation room; the lifting oil cylinder is arranged between the operation room and the mast; the other end of the mast is provided with the crown block; and a steel cable of the hoist penetrates through the crown block on the top of the mast and is connected with the grab bucket. The grab bucket machine is characterized in that the hoist is arranged on the tail part of the operation room and is positioned above a counterweight area, wherein the length of the mast is 100%-150% that of the grab bucket. By adopting the structural design, the grab bucket machine adopts a short mast to match with the hoist which moves backwards, so that the construction height space requirements of the grab bucket machine are reduced, and operation requirements of a low-clearance construction environment are met.
