The invention discloses a ceiling having a harmful gas absorbing function and a preparation method thereof. The ceiling consists of upper and lower surface layers formed by gypsum and glass fiber gridding cloth, and a core layer formed by gypsum and activated carbon or bamboo charcoal; and the preparation method is mainly realized through the steps of: (a) material preparation; (b) in-molding shaping; (c) condensation demolding and maintenance; and (d) perforation by perforating equipment. The ceiling has the function of automatically absorbing such harmful gases as free formaldehyde, benzene and ammonia in rooms for a long time, also has functions of moisture, odor and mildew prevention, and has such advantages as high absorbility, good absorbing effect, low cost and no poison and side effects.
