The invention discloses a method for preparing a diatom ooze building and ornament material. The method comprises the specific steps that firstly, butyl titanate is added in sulfuric acid of a certain concentration to be stirred fiercely, zinc vitriol and calcium sulfate dihydrate are slowly added, fierce stirring is kept, a small amount of water is slowly added to be stirred till the solution is transparent, and accordingly a solution A is obtained; secondly, the solution A is dissolved in a certain amount of water, a small amount of diatom ooze is added, and a solution B is obtained by stirring; thirdly, a calcium hydroxide solution is added into the solution B, the pH value is adjusted to be neutral, and thus a solution C is obtained; fourthly, the solution C is filtered and dried, and a solid compound D containing diatom ooze, nano-titanium dioxide, zinc oxide and calcium sulfate is obtained; fifthly, the D is added into the diatom ooze to be stirred and mixed at a high speed, and the diatom ooze building and ornament material is obtained. The building and ornament material is synthesized through a chemical method, the antibacterial and odor-eliminating performance of the diatom ooze material is effectively improved, and the adhesive property of the building and ornament material and a wall is enhanced.
