The invention relates to a hollow gypsum wallboard and a production process thereof. The hollow gypsum wallboard comprises components in parts by mass as follows: 2-2.5 pats of glass fiber, 1.5-2 parts of perlite, 45-50 parts of desulfurization gypsum, 4-7 parts of coal ash, water and cement, wherein the amount of water is 1.2-1.5 times of that of the desulfurization gypsum, and the cement is 0.1-0.15 times of the total mass of the wallboard. The production process comprises steps as follows: die closing, tubular pile insertion, spreading of gridding cloth, primary stirring, secondary stirring, pouring, tube pulling, die opening and maintenance. Sound waves perform diffuse reflection when penetrating through the hollow gypsum wallboard due to the low-density material formed after the perlite in the wallboard expands, the penetrating power of the sound waves is reduced, air pores in the low-density material also have good warmth keeping and thermal insulation functions, the heat conductivity coefficient of the desulfurization gypsum building material approaches the average heat conductivity coefficient of wood, the production efficiency is high, the area of desulfurization gypsum blocks is large, and watering for maintenance is not required after the blocks are stripped from dies.
