The invention discloses high quality factor neodymium niobate microwave dielectric ceramics prepared by substituting yttrium ions for neodymium ions and a preparation method thereof. The composition of the high quality factor neodymium niobate microwave dielectric ceramics is (Nd1-xYx) NbO4, wherein mole number x is greater than or equal to 0.02 and is less than or equal to 0.15. The preparation method includes weighting raw materials of Nd2O3, Y2O3 and Nb2O5 by chemical formula, performing ball milling, calcining, secondary ball milling, drying, sieving and granulating and forming green body through compression molding, sintering at 1225 to 1275 DEG C, and preserving heat for 4 hours to obtain microwave dielectric ceramics. The dielectric constant of products is 19.87, the temperature coefficient of resonance frequency is -18.84ppm/ DEG C, and the quality factor reaches 81100GH. According to the invention, the preparation technology is simple, the preparation process is environment-friendly, and the microwave dielectric ceramics is a promising microwave dielectric material.
