The invention discloses an aerated building block capable of purifying air, and a making method thereof. The aerated building block is made from, by weight, 37-49 parts of gangue, 22-34 parts of volcanic rocks, 18-26 parts of natural zeolite, 12-24 parts of plant straw powder, 9-18 parts of porous calcium phosphate, 10-20 parts of montmorillenite, 11-23 parts of diatomite, 17-31 parts of porous ceramsite, 5-10 parts of acetylated distarch phosphate, 7-11 parts of active alumina, 8-12 parts of a carbon molecular sieve, 32-44 parts of sulfoaluminate cement, 3-5 parts of ferrosilicon alloy powder, 2-4 parts of sodium hydroxide and a proper amount of water. The volcanic rock, the natural zeolite, the plant straw powder, porous calcium phosphate, diatomite, porous ceramsite, the carbon molecular sieve and other materials with abundant apertures are adopted as raw materials in the invention, so the aerated building block made in the invention has excellent adsorption performances, can effectively eliminate formaldehyde, toluene, ammonia, VOC and other harmful substances in indoor air and the sour and foul odors of leftovers, the fuel fume smell, the smoke smell and other peculiar smells n daily life, realizes air refreshing of walls, purifies indoor air, improves the living environment, and enhances the physical and mental health.
