A protection treatment method of a calcium sulfate weathered layer on the surface of a limestone cultural relic is characterized in that a phosphate chemical substance solution is used to convert the calcium sulfate weathered layer on the surface of the limestone cultural relic in order to realize in situ generation of a compact hydroxylapatite conversion film on the surface of the limestone cultural relic so as to protect the surface-weathered limestone cultural relic. The hydroxylapatite conversion film has extremely low dissolvability, good acid resistance and good combination force, can prevent damages induced by corrosion of the calcium sulfate weathered layer on the surface of the limestone cultural relic, and has a good protection effect.
