The invention belongs to the technical field of road signboards and aims at providing a glass fiber reinforced plastic composite material traffic signboard which has low cost, excellent performances and guarantees safety and a manufacturing method thereof. The glass fiber reinforced plastic composite material traffic signboard comprises a glass fiber reinforced plastic grid plate and a metal plate, wherein the metal plate covers the front surface and the side edge of the glass fiber reinforced plastic grid plate, and a covering edge is formed on the back surface of the glass fiber reinforced plastic grid plate; the metal plate and the glass fiber reinforced plastic grid plate are stuck and fixed; a light-reflection membrane is stuck on the front surface of the metal plate; and a first clamping groove and a second clamping groove are formed in the back surface of the glass fiber reinforced plastic grid plate. The glass fiber reinforced plastic composite material traffic signboard provided by the invention is formed by compounding and molding the metal plate and the glass fiber reinforced plastic grid plate; the whole structure has rigidity and toughness and expresses the performances of tension resistance, pressing resistance, bending resistance, and weight which is lighter than an aluminum plate of the glass fiber reinforced plastic grid plate; the attaching performances of the metal plate and the light-reflection membrane are kept, and functional requirements of an existing signboard can be met; the construction cost is greatly reduced and a valuable resource of aluminum alloy sheet materials is saved; and the glass fiber reinforced plastic composite material traffic signboard is economical and environmentally friendly and is not easy to steal, and guarantees the safety.
