The invention discloses a flip washbasin with a decorative plate, comprising a washbasin body and a washbasin base having a recess part matchable with the washbasin body in shape. Two sides of the recess part of the washbasin base are provided with connecting holes. The washbasin body is connected with the connecting holes through a rotary shaft. The bottom end of the washbasin body is provided with the luminous decorative plate. The washbasin base is provided with an infrared sensing switch enabling the opening or closing of the luminous decorative plate to be controlled. When the washbasin is idle, the washbasin body is inserted into the recess part of the washbasin base, so that inner space of a bathroom is substantially saved while the washbasin is idle, and at this moment when someone enters a sensing range of the infrared sensing switch, a sensor on the infrared sensing switch detects the changes in human infrared spectrum and the infrared sensing switch automatically connects a load, thus powering on the luminous decorative plate to emit light which permeates the decorative plate, displaying a pattern on the luminous decorative plate and giving decoration.
