A coder comprises a plurality of sequence number switch units, a breakover selecting device, a switch-off device, a connecting device and a selecting handle. The multiple sequence number switch units, the breakover selecting device and the switch-off device are installed at the inner side of a protecting layer. The selecting handle is installed at the outer side of the protecting layer. Each sequence number switch unit is provided with a plurality of sequence number switches. A series circuit is formed by connectingthe corresponding sequence number switches of the multiple sequence number switch units through the breakover selecting device. The connecting device penetrates through one end of the protecting layer and is connected with the switch-off device, and the other end of the connecting device is connected with the selecting handle. The selecting handle selects the switch-off device to switch off the corresponding sequence number switch through the connecting device. By means of the coder, the problems that an existing coder is complex in structure, the code capacity is insufficient, and codes are easy to break are solved.
