The invention relates to a mobile work unit having a chassis, having a mast (20) or boom which is rotatable around a vertical axis (18), arranged on a boom pedestal and can be rotated by a slewing gear, wherein the mast (20) or boom is folded together or retracted in the transport position thereof and normally unfolded or extended in the work position thereof, and having a control. According to the invention, the control has a rapid movement for the slewing gear in order to rotate the mast (20) or boom into the desired working position at increased speed, wherein the rapid movement can only be selected if the mast (20) or boom is folded together or retracted.
